Gary S Selwyn, PhD
Founder, Inventor, President
Dr. Selwyn has been a pioneering innovator in the field of materials processing and process chemistry for almost 30 years. He holds a B.S. in chemistry from the State University of New York at Albany (Summa Cum Laude), a Ph.D. in chemical physics from the University of California, Berkeley, and did postdoctoral work at the University of Canterbury (Christchurch, New Zealand) and at the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC. Dr. Selwyn joined IBM as a research manager at the Watson Research Center, where he managed many R&D projects, was a corporate internal manufacturing expert and received management training. At Los Alamos National Laboratory, he was the inventor of the atmospheric plasma technology and was responsible for licensing that patent portfolio to APJET. He also was an adjunct professor at UCLA and has served on PhD thesis committees at MIT and UCLA.
A recipient of three R&D100 awards (the latest being in July 2014 for the ChemStik® technology), Dr. Selwyn has professionally consulted with over 40 companies worldwide, has published over 80 technical papers and has over 30 issued or pending patents. He has served as an expert witness on patent infringement trials. He is the founder of APJET, Inc., an atmospheric plasma company, and was the CEO of APJET from 2003 to 2007 and the Chairman and CTO from 2007 to 2011. Dr. Selwyn is the founder of Green Theme Technologies and has formed the vision and mission of GTT to be the leading-edge chemical formulator and technology developer for cost-effective, high-performance and environmentally-friendly finishing of textiles and nonwovens using continuous or batch curing methods.
Reza Shekarriz, PhD
Engineering Consultant
Dr. Reza Shekarriz received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1988. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins University and David Taylor Research Center from 1989 to 1991. In 1992 he joined PNNL and was a staff scientist for several years before pursuing his entrepreneurial dreams. For the past 15 years, he has served as a principal innovator and key technical staff developing patentable and commercializable technologies. At his company Fluid Analytics, he directed a technical staff for development and successful deployment of market ready technologies. His technical expertise is in thermal and fluids engineering and he has more than 100 publications and reports and more than 15 patents and inventions. Dr. Shekarriz is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and has served on technical review panels and committees within ASME, Society of Rheology, ASHRAE, and AIAA.
Chris CoopeR
Chemical Engineer
Chris Cooper is a chemical engineer having more than 10 years of experience as an engineering contractor and safety consultant for the Air Force Research Laboratory. Chris' experience includes the design, assembly, and operation of innovative solid, liquid, and gas delivery systems. His previous experience also includes aiding in the development of new cleaning technologies used for recycling wafer fabrication parts in the semiconductor industry and the commercialization of hydraulic fracturing modifying agents needed for formation stabilization in the oil and gas industries and testing chromate conversion coatings for the corrosion and metallurgy department at Sandia National Labs. Chris graduated cum laude from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Personal skill sets include strong troubleshooting, teaching, mentoring, programming, leadership, and communication capabilities with the ability to operate well in either a self-guided or a team environment possessing a strong commitment to personal integrity and ethics.
Oleg MaltseV
Field Engineer
Oleg joined GTT after completing his Master's degree at UNM and is the field engineer for GTT. As such, Oleg is responsible for assistance with customer installations and QC tests in the Americas, Europe and Asia. At GTT, Oleg also functions as a mechanical and process engineer and does SolidWorks designs, PLC and equipment troubleshooting.
Oleg is passionate about electronics design, high-fi audio, plays guitar and drums, is an avid biker, hiker and skiier. He also has an array of pets and a salt reef fish tank.
Dr. Stuart Rose
Scientific and Business Advisor
Dr. Rose has over 40 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to establishing The BioScience Center in 2012, he served as founder and President/CEO of Oso Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing, a contract manufacturing organization for injectable pharmaceuticals. Before founding Oso Biopharmaceutical, he held executive positions with Penick Corporation (President/CEO), ICN – now Valeant – Pharmaceuticals (Vice President of Worldwide Manufacturing and VP/GM of ICN Europe), and Par Pharmaceuticals (Senior VP). He spent the majority of his early career with American Cyanamid's pharmaceutical arm, Lederle Laboratories, where he rose to Vice President of International Manufacturing and Logistics.
Dr. Rose is also a Director of Agilvax, a start-up entity with a novel platform for the development of vaccines; a Director of Oligocide, a start-up developing antimicrobial chemical compounds that attract and then kill bacteria, viruses and some fungi; and an investor/advisor in a number of other biotechnology start-ups. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
Thomas Lopez
Strategic Advisor
Tom Lopez is a serial entrepreneur, having started and grown three companies which were subsequently acquired by major US Corporations. His areas of expertise include capital formation, technology development, product marketing, corporate management, mergers & acquisitions, and exit strategies. During his career he also served as an officer of two companies with completed successful initial public offerings of their stock. Mr. Lopez acts in the capacity as a Strategic Advisor with a number of small companies in software, internet, medicine and materials science.
Alex PadilLA
Business Development Advisor
Alex Padilla is an entrepreneur with over 35 years of experience in sales, business development, and executive management. He has participated in the successful establishment and exit of 6 start-up organizations in the fields of computing, telecommunications, internet, tele-radiology, professional services and software. As an advocate of small business he currently serves as CEO of a fledgling software analytic company, sits on the board of two private companies and is an active member of the board of the Santa Fe Business Incubator and New Mexico First, a non-partisan public policy organization.
Faina Fialkovsky
Accounting/Admin
Ms. Fialkovsky has a BBA from New Mexico State University and is the accountant/admin assistant for GTT. Faina has background in all aspects of accounting, including finance, and experience in small business operations. Ms. Fialkovsky handles customer visits, invoicing, accounts payable and payroll for GTT. Ms Fialkovsky will be more than happy to assist you in setting up your visit to GTT.
Prior to her employment with GTT, Ms Fialkovsky worked at the Gulfstream Group.
Aaron Caudill
Chemical Engineering Technician
Aaron joined GTT in 2015 as a Chemical Engineering Technician and is part of the GTT quality assurance team. He earned a BS degree in ChemE from New Mexico Tech and after that he jumped out of airplanes for the US Army. In his more sedate civilian life he does quality testing of treatment samples and new product formulations and plays video games and hangs out with his family in his spare time.
